Hosted by the Alaska Baseball Academy Sockeyes, the tournament featured several dramatic comebacks for North Stars 10U and a repeat visit to the Championship game for North Stars 12U. All three teams battled the infamous rainy Alaska weather in Anchorage, but that didn’t stop the smiles. 10U finished the tournament with a “ring” given to the 1st place finisher of each division. Congrats Coach Tyler and the 10U coaches, players, and parents.

Boys of Summer Classic Jun 25-27;

The Boys of Summer Classic, hosted each year by the AK Glacier Bears of 907 Baseball Club in Anchorage, AK – Saw the all four of our travel teams travel to the area to compete. Weather wasn’t ideal for the tournament, with both days seeing overcast or drizzling (even rain) before, during, and after completed games. Teams competed however. 10U placed in the 3rd/4th slot dropping a 7-4 game in the quarterfinals to the Glacier Bears. In the 12U division, things were rough for the organization as neither the 11U or 12U squads made it past the round robin portion and failing to make the bracket. 14U didn’t have bracket, but did manager to sweep the three game series against the Glacier Bears to draw above .500 for the first time this season.

West Coast Premier Season Finale Jul 23-25;

10/11/12U athletes had the incredible opportunity to take in instruction and knowledge from the Mound Time Baseball staff in Hillsboro, OR before staying in the area and participating in the West Coast Premier Season Finale later in the week. In addition to the instruction, which lasted the first 5 days of the trip, the athletes took in two different Minor League baseball games and explored in and around Portland, OR where the tournament was played.

After finishing 2-1 and outscoring their opponents 24-7 in pool play, North Stars 12U found themselves as a #1 seed for the crossovers on Sunday – day three of the tournament. After a late inning come-back win that was pushed to extras in the semi-final game, 12U finished the job taking out the Salem (OR) Sluggers 15-6 in the Championship. 11U battled all weekend even defeating the EForce (OR) Expos 12-9 but did not place in the two team championship bracket.
